Welcome

Welcome to my first blog. I am starting my blogging life with a math blog. It is an assignment for my Math 1510 for Central Lakes College. I am currently taking two math classes to help me on my way to becoming a teacher. I believe this math blog will be exceptionally beneficial to me. I have never been a computer genius, but I can usually figure it out. Blogging is becoming very popular, and it will help me become more proficient with skills that my students may have more command at than me! It makes me think back when I was a child. My parents bought a IBM PC Junior computer. It did not take me long to figure it out with the giant floppy disks and the loud beeps. But when my dad would use the computer, he would always call for one of the kids to help. He did not understand the use of DOS backup on the floppy disk. I see how my children are passing me with technology as well. My son had to show me how to use the new phone I purchased and then taught me how to use the IPod my husband got for me. It is no surprise that people say,"You still listen to CD's?"! 

Many of the classes I have taken on my journey to becoming a teacher have taken me out of my comfort zone. I have really enjoyed the process and found that everything so far has been user friendly. Math blogs are a great way to help with the enjoyment of math. Teachers can share ideas, parents can look up strategies for helping their children and students can look up fun games, and much more. 

I will look forward to a lot of reviewing of my dusty math skills and a lot of learning of skills. I am excited to incorporate my learning into my blog. 

This is a picture of my son Ian at hockey. He was three years old. He could not skate yet, but he went out on the ice every Saturday and attempted to learn. He did end up learning how to skate. He gave it his all (most of the time) and that is all anyone can ask. That is how I feel about learning, give it your all and that is all anyone can ask.
